Blind Assessment: Evaluated as espresso. Balanced, richly bittersweet. Baker’s chocolate, dried apricot, hop flowers, sandalwood, hazelnut butter in aroma and cup. Plush, creamy mouthfeel; bright, fruit-forward finish. In milk, crisp chocolate notes envelope notes of stone fruit and bittersweet florals in the short, with rich aromatic wood tones resurfacing in the long.
Notes: This coffee tied for the second-highest rating in a tasting of “classic” espresso blends for Coffee Review’s June 2019 tasting report. A blend of Arabica coffees from Central America, South America and Indonesia. Boulder, Colorado-based Dragonfly Coffee was named 2019 Micro-Roaster of the Year by Roast magazine. The Bottom Line: A rich-toned straight shot, and an inviting espresso in milk: resonant and familiar in its harmonious bittersweetness.
