A ready-to-drink bottled black coffee tested over ice. Crisp, citrusy. Pink grapefruit, black currant, cocoa powder, cedar, almond. Roundly sweet-tart structure; taut, satiny mouthfeel. The crisp, citrus-toned finish leads with notes of grapefruit in the short, followed by almond and cocoa. Whole milk rounds the citrus notes and foregrounds the cocoa.
This coffee earned the fourth-highest rating in a tasting of ready-to-drink bottled black coffees for Coffee Review’s July 2018 tasting report. This coffee is brewed hot under pressurized nitrogen to produce a concentrate that is then cooled, diluted and put into 9.5-ounce cans. A small amount of vitamin C is added to the finished beverage as preservative. Black Medicine is a quality-focused micro-brewer that only produces various forms of cold coffee.
