Blind Assessment: A ready-to-drink black coffee, tested cold. Complex, nuanced, multi-layered. Lilac, dark chocolate, lemon verbena, dried apricot, Bourbon barrel. Sweetly tart with juicy-bright acidity; lightly syrupy, very refreshing mouthfeel. Invitingly rich finish with suggestions of Bourbon barrel integrated with classic Ethiopia notes of dried stone fruit and sweet herbs.
Notes: Prepared by the cold-brew method, which involves prolonged steeping of ground coffee in cold or room-temperature water and subsequent filtering. Contains no additives or ingredients other than coffee and water. The green coffee used is a washed-process Ethiopia Yirgacheffe aged in Bourbon whiskey barrels. The Bottom Line: An addictively compelling barrel-aged Yirgacheffe cold brew, aromatically reminiscent of fine Bourbon but all classic Ethiopia coffee on the palate — a very pretty sipper.
