Blind Assessment
Evaluated as espresso. Richly chocolaty, deep-toned. Dark chocolate, date, pink peppercorn, tangerine zest, sandalwood in aroma and small cup. Crisp, velvety mouthfeel; chocolaty finish with undertones of pink peppercorn. In cappuccino format, richly chocolaty, through and through, with gentle subtones of pink peppercorn.
Notes
Produced by smallholding farmers and processed by the washed method (fruit skin and pulp removed before drying). Beyond 85 Coffee is a retail and wholesale coffee company founded by roasting expert Jose Bedoya and former ICO chair and farmer Roberto Giesemann, that is focused on locally sourced and roasted Colombian coffees. Beyond 85 is a Florida-based company but roasts in Huila, Colombia. Visit www.beyond85coffee.com for more information.
Bottom Line
A chocolaty, spice-toned single-origin Colombia espresso complicated by bittersweet citrus notes — appealing in both the straight shot and in milk.
