Blind Assessment: Evaluated as espresso. Deeply cocoa- and nut-toned, brightly fruit-forward. Cocoa powder, caramel, almond butter, dried black cherry, myrrh in aroma and small cup. Velvety mouthfeel, crisp, chocolaty and nut-toned finish. The milk shot leads with notes of black cherry and cocoa powder, supported by rich aromatic wood and almond butter.
Notes: This coffee tied for the second-highest rating in a tasting of “classic” espresso blends for Coffee Review’s June 2019 tasting report. Comprised of 50% Burundi Gakenke coffee and 50% coffee from Colombia, both wet-processed. Propeller is a Toronto-based micro-roaster with a dedication to careful selection and exceptional craft roasting of high-end coffees. The Bottom Line: Propeller’s Ace Espresso Blend comprises an ever-evolving series of components that seem to always hit the mark; this version is bright, sweetly tart, and singingly confident.
