Reviews for Caffe Ladro
Bright, sweet, richly floral-toned. Honey, rose-like flowers, fresh-cut fir, zesty tangerine in aroma and cup. Sweetly tart acidity; lightly syrupy, very lively mouthfeel. Long, honey-toned finish.
Intense, tartly sweet, richly dry. Tart berry leads in aroma and cup, softened by a minty dark chocolate and a hint of cedar. Roundly bright acidity; silky mouthfeel. Chocolate in particular carries into a sweet finish.
Evaluated as espresso. Crisp cocoa and pungent fruit dominate in the small cup with impressive vanilla and floral top notes nuancing the aroma. Medium body, smoothly syrupy mouthfeel. Co-taster Andy Newbom (91) particularly admired a "complete and elegant" structure that balances sweet with a pungent hint of savory. The savory drops away in milk where both Ken (91) and Andy found impressive chocolaty sweetness ("Cocoa pops!" Andy exclaimed) deepened by a rich, fig-like fruit.
The aroma doesn't provoke much anticipation: roasty, edge of burned, midtoned, without range or nuance. Softens and complicates in the cup, displaying a pleasantly wine-toned balance of sweet acidity and a discreetly bittersweet roastiness. Simplifies again in the rather sharp finish.
