Blind Assessment
Fruit-saturated, richly aromatic. Dried fig, black cherry, cocoa nib, preserved lemon, blood orange in aroma and cup. Winey acidity; creamy-smooth mouthfeel. Resonant, long-lingering, fruit-focused finish.
Notes
Produced by smallholding farmers, entirely of the rare Al Udaini variety of Arabica, and processed by the anaerobic natural method, in which the whole fruit is fermented in tanks with limited oxygen before drying, also in the whole fruit. Chuck’s Roast was founded by Chuck Patton, founder of Bird Rock Coffee Roasters, to bring rare, often elusive coffees to discerning coffee lovers. Bottom Line
A dramatically expressive Yemen anaerobic natural that amplifies the origin’s hallmark spice, incense and dried-fruit character through a vivid, fermentation-driven structure.
