Sweetly savory, deep-toned. Black cherry, baker’s chocolate, date, toasted walnut, aromatic cedar in aroma and cup. Soft, gently tart acidity; full, syrupy mouthfeel. The finish is quiet but persistent, with notes of dark chocolate, dried fruit and cedar.

Notes

A Vietnam-grown Excelsa coffee, processed by the washed method (fruit skin and pulp removed before drying). Until 2006, Excelsa was believed to be a separate coffee species but is now considered a variety of Liberica, Coffea liberia var. dewevrei. Like Liberica, Excelsa is heat-tolerant and relatively disease-resistant. Most estimates suggest it makes up around 1% to 2% of world coffee production.
