Blind Assessment
Balanced, rich-toned, harmonious. Blackberry, baking chocolate, agave syrup, pink grapefruit and bay leaf in aroma and cup. Gently bright acidity; very full, syrupy mouthfeel. Chocolaty, berry-toned finish.
Notes
Produced by more than 80,000 Inzovu smallholding farmers, from trees of the Bourbon and Typica varieties of Arabica, and washed at 65 different washing stations across Rwanda. This coffee consists entirely of peaberries, a kind of bean that results when the coffee fruit develops a single, oval bean rather than the usual pair of flat-sided beans. Founded in 1990, Roadmap CoffeeWorks, formerly Lexington Coffee Roasters, is an award-winning artisan roasting company based in Lexington, Virginia. Roadmap CoffeeWorks focuses on producing fresh, distinctive and sustainable coffees. Visit www.roadmapcoffeeworks.com or call 800-322-6505 for more information.
Bottom Line
An astonishing example of high-quality community coffee, this Inzovu peaberry is richly sweet, gently fruity and crisply chocolaty — a mighty impressive collective cup.
