Blind Assessment
Rich-toned, multilayered. Black cherry, baking chocolate, nutmeg, freesia, sandalwood in aroma and cup. Deep, sweetly savory structure with gently bright acidity; full, very syrupy mouthfeel. Lingering notes of baking chocolate supported by black cherry and nutmeg in the finish.
Notes
Produced by Iwannitosa Putra of Putra Gayo Mill and Farm, from trees of the Ateng. Bor Bor, Catimor and Timor varieties of Arabica, and processed by the washed method (fruit skin and pulp removed before drying). JBC Coffee Roasters’ vision is simple: “Let the coffee lead the way” through sourcing and roasting the best coffees available and rewarding the farmers who grow those coffees with substantial premiums. Bottom Line
This rare washed (as opposed to wet-hulled) Sumatra brings all the fruit and florals of Sumatra without the typical earthiness, and it’s got an umami throughline, to boot.
