Blind Assessment
Generous, juicy and sweetly complex. Black raspberry, ripe nectarine, mandarin, violet and chocolate truffle in aroma and cup. Bright, rounded acidity; full, velvety mouthfeel. The finish is long and richly aromatic, with notes of black raspberry, violet and chocolate truffle.
Notes
This coffee earned Finalist recognition in the Traditional Natural category, U.S. division, of the inaugural Kenneth Davids Cup. Produced by Joel Silva Arrascue of Finca Los Quiques (and a member of the Los Quiques Cooperativa La Prosperidad de Chirinos), entirely of the Bourbon variety of Arabica, and processed by the natural method (dried in the whole fruit). Regenerative Organic Certified (ROC). Utopian Coffee is a specialty roaster based in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Visit www.utopiancoffee.com for more information.
Bottom Line
An exceptional Peru Bourbon natural with saturated dark berry and stone fruit at its center, lifted by citrus and violet and anchored by deep chocolate sweetness, all held together by a confident, balanced structure.
