Blind Assessment
Uniquely composed, deeply aromatic and compellingly savory-sweet. Mulberry, guava, narcissus, dark chocolate and fresh rosemary in aroma and cup. Lively, wine-toned acidity; plush, syrupy mouthfeel. The finish is exceptionally long and multi-dimensional, alternating among tropical fruit, dark chocolate and rich aromatic herbs.
Notes
This coffee won 2nd place (Silver) in the Traditional Natural category, International division, of the inaugural Kenneth Davids Cup. Produced by Cheng-Yuan Wang, entirely of the SL34 variety of Arabica, and processed by the natural method (dried in the whole fruit). Kakalove Café is a nano-roaster located in the small city of Chia-Yi in Taiwan that strives to procure and roast the finest quality coffee. Bottom Line
A remarkable Taiwan-grown SL34 that transforms the variety’s fruit intensity into something distinctly its own — lush, floral, subtly savory and impressively complete.
