Blind Assessment
Intense, complex, original. Sassafras, hazelnut, sandalwood, pear cider, raspberry, a hint of petrichor in aroma and cup. Pungently bittersweet but juicy in structure; supple, satiny mouthfeel. The bittersweetness softens in a dry yet richly layered finish.
Notes
A natural-processed Yemen anchors this rendition of the Mocha-Java blend with fruit and authenticity, a wet-hulled Bali grounds and deepens it, and a bit of anaerobic-processed Colombia injects juicy complication. Established in 2009 by Amy and Scott Angelo, Oceana brews specialty coffees that have been roasted in small batches at its roasting house and café in Tequesta, Florida. Bottom Line
An inspired riff on the Mocha-Java theme, distinctive both in its aromatic drama and in the paradox of its pungent yet juicy structure.
