Blind Assessment

Evaluated as espresso. Richly sweet-tart, deep-toned. Black cherry, chocolate fudge, hazelnut, sassafras, cedar in aroma and small cup. Crisp, satiny-smooth mouthfeel; resonant, fudge-like finish. In cappuccino format, a really nice coconut note emerges, and the milk harmonizes beautifully with the fruit and nut tones.

Notes

A blend of coffees from Ethiopia, Mexico and Indonesia, each roasted separately and then combined to make Mortem’s flagship blend. Mortem Labs is a Norfolk, Virginia roastery that offers small-batch blends and select single-origin coffees. Visit www.mortem-labs.com for more information.

Bottom Line

This bargain of a melange roast is designed for espresso, but it’s also solid as a pour-over or an Aeropress.
