Blind Assessment
Intensely aromatic, high-toned, deeply sweet. Black currant, blood orange, cocoa nib, wisteria, cedar in aroma and cup. Brilliant, complexly layered acidity; full, satiny-smooth mouthfeel. The finish is long and flavor-saturated, with lingering black currant, blood and cocoa nib.
Notes
This coffee won 1st place (Gold) in the Traditional Washed category, International division, of the inaugural Kenneth Davids Cup. Produced at Nyeri Hill Estate, from trees of the SL34, SL28 and Ruiru 11 varieties of Arabica, and processed by the traditional washed method (fruit skin and pulp removed before drying). Kakalove Café is a nano-roaster located in the small city of Chia-Yi in Taiwan that strives to procure and roast the finest quality coffee. Bottom Line
A superbly structured, fruit-driven Kenya, combining electrifying acidity with deep sweetness, lush florals, complex citrus and a cocoa nib throughline.
