Blind Assessment
Vibrant, juicy and exceptionally balanced. Black currant, red plum, pink grapefruit, hibiscus and dark chocolate in aroma and cup. Bright, savory-sweet acidity; full, satiny mouthfeel. The finish is long and animated, with black currant, hibiscus and dark chocolate notes.
Notes
This coffee earned Finalist recognition in the Traditional Washed category, International division, of the inaugural Kenneth Davids Cup. Produced at Ukili Farm from the admired SL28 and SL34 varieties of Arabica, and processed by the washed method (fruit skin and flesh are removed from the beans before they are dried). This coffee consists entirely of peaberries, a kind of bean that results when the coffee fruit develops a single, oval bean rather than the usual pair of flat-sided beans. Imported by Pebble Coffee. Bottom Line
An exceptional Nyeri peaberry with the vivid fruit, savory complexity and structural intensity associated with great Kenya coffees, expressed here with particular balance and depth.
