Blind Assessment
Classic, fruit-driven Kenya cup. Notes of black currant, pink grapefruit and red plum up front, supported by candied violet and rich cedar. Juicy, wine-toned acidity; light, velvety body. Crisp, sweetly tart finish.
Notes
Produced by smallholding farmers, from trees of the SL28. SL34 and Ruiru 11 varieties of Arabica, and processed by the washed method (fruit skin and pulp removed before drying). This coffee consists entirely of peaberries, a kind of bean that results when the coffee fruit develops a single, oval bean rather than the usual pair of flat-sided beans. JBC Coffee Roasters’ vision is simple: “Let the coffee lead the way” through sourcing and roasting the best coffees available and rewarding the farmers who grow those coffees with substantial premiums. Bottom Line
A lively, juicy Kenya peaberry with characteristic black currant and citrus complexity, balanced by floral and savory-leaning undertones.
