Blind Assessment
Vivid, juicy and richly aromatic. Black currant, red plum, pink grapefruit, candied violet and dark chocolate in aroma and cup. Bright, wine-toned acidity; plush, syrupy-smooth mouthfeel. The finish is long and resonant, with black currant, violet and dark chocolate notes.
Notes
This coffee earned Finalist recognition in the Traditional Washed category, U.S. division, of the inaugural Kenneth Davids Cup. Purchased from C. Dorman, Ltd; comprised of the SL28 SL34, Ruiru 11 and Batian varieties of Arabica, and processed by the washed method (fruit skin and pulp removed before drying). Roaster Yu Chih Hao is co-founder of Fumi Coffee, a roaster in Hsinchu, Taiwan, specializing in specialty coffee and homemade desserts. Visit Fumi’s Facebook for more information.
Bottom Line
A beautifully structured Kenya that combines saturated fruit, vibrant citrus and sweet florals with deep chocolate tones and an especially integrated finish.
