Blind Assessment
Evaluated as espresso. Sweetly bright and layered. Wisteria, lemon curd, cocoa nib, tamarind, honey in aroma and small cup. Satiny, vibrant mouthfeel; long, sweetly citrusy and cocoa-toned finish. In milk, the espresso blooms with lemon curd, cocoa nib, and honeyed floral notes.
Notes
Produced by smallholding farmers, entirely of landrace selections of Arabica long grown in the region, and processed by the traditional washed method (fruit skin and pulp removed before drying). JBC Coffee Roasters’ vision is simple: “Let the coffee lead the way” through sourcing and roasting the best coffees available and rewarding the farmers who grow those coffees with substantial premiums. Bottom Line
A superb washed Yirgacheffe espresso: vibrant yet balanced, floral and citrusy in the straight shot, and creamy-sweet and dessert-like in milk — think lemon tart.
