Blind Assessment
Deeply sweet, floral-nuanced. Caramel, jasmine, cocoa powder, red apple, almond nougat in aroma and cup. Balanced acidity; satiny-smooth mouthfeel. Caramel and jasmine notes persist in the finish.
Notes
Produced by Andres Fahsen of Finca Retana, entirely of the Bourbon variety of Arabica, and processed by the traditional washed method (fruit skin and pulp removed before drying). The green coffee earned second place in the Regional Antigua Coffee Competition organized by Anacafé. El Gran Cafe is a coffee shop located in the heart of Antigua, Guatemala, whose mission is to roast and serve organic-certified coffees produced at its own Finca La Esperanza and Finca El Pintado just outside of town. Featured in El Gran Cafe’s lineup are also coffees from friends and neighbors in the region, along with award-winning and exceptional coffees from other regions of Guatemala. Visit El Gran Cafe’s website for more information.
Bottom Line
An elegant washed Bourbon from Antigua, offering layered sweetness and a refined floral lift.
