Blind Assessment
Intensely sweet, honey-toned. Wild honey, date, finger lime, rooibos, and marjoram in aroma and cup. Gentle, round acidity; full, satiny-smooth mouthfeel. Long, resonant, richly sweet finish.
Notes
Produced by Gonzalo Hernandez at Coffea Diversa farm, entirely of the Coffea eugenioides species, and processed by the honey method, in which some fruit flesh is left on the beans during the drying process. (Only 4kg available worldwide.) Coffea eugenioides is a very rare coffee species from East Africa that’s known for its naturally low caffeine and minimal bitterness. Paradise prides itself on quality and freshness, craft-roasting coffees in small batches only after orders are placed. Visit www.paradiseroasters.com or call 808-498-4048 for more information.
Bottom Line
A rare non-Arabica coffee that originated in East Africa, grown in Costa Rica and roasted in Hawai’i — the cup is as fascinating as the story.
