Blind Assessment
Lavishly aromatic, flavor-saturated, complexly layered. Blueberry, wild strawberry, hibiscus, cocoa nib, tangerine in aroma and cup. Vivid, winey acidity; viscous, nectar-like mouthfeel. The finish is extraordinarily long and resonant, meandering through notes of dried blueberry and dark chocolate with a whisper of bergamot.
Notes
The Odakko Project cherry involved smallholding producers at elevations ranging from 2150 to 2300 MASL within a 10-km radius of the Yaye Washing Station (owned by Testi Coffees), all of whom were growing the 74518 variety of Arabica. Processed by the natural method (dried in the whole fruit). Testi emphasizes education, building schools, and providing school supplies to students, and the premium for this project goes toward this social program. Bottom Line
A very impressive Ethiopia natural from the Sidama region that demonstrates what meticulously selected, single-variety Ethiopian fruit can achieve. This is a coffee of rare intensity and refinement, one that rewards slow sipping and quiet attention.
