Blind Assessment
Richly sweet, deep-toned. Dried mulberry, pink grapefruit zest, wild honey, freesia, fresh-cut cedar in aroma and cup. Malic (apple-like) acidity; very full, creamy-smooth mouthfeel. Long, flavor-saturated, complex and inviting finish.
Notes
Produced by Doña Francisca and Oscar Chacon at Finca Los Pinitos at Las Lajas, entirely of the Java variety of Arabica, and processed by the red honey method, in which much of the fruit flesh is left on the beans during the drying process. Magnolia Coffee is a Charlotte, North Carolina-based specialty roaster whose mission is to use sustainably sourced coffees to make a difference in the lives of coffee workers and to foster a socially conscious community with cause-supporting coffees. Bottom Line
A Costa Rica Java red honey that delivers on all fronts with deep fruit, rich chocolate, citrus, honey, and spice-toned florals — confident, balanced, satisfying.
