Blind Assessment
Intensely aromatic, fruit-saturated and intricately floral. Dried raspberry, passionfruit, blood orange, gardenia and dark chocolate in aroma and cup. Vibrant, juicy acidity; syrupy-smooth mouthfeel. The finish is long and richly aromatic, with dried raspberry, gardenia and dark chocolate notes.
Notes
This coffee earned Finalist recognition in the Experimental category, U.S. division, of the inaugural Kenneth Davids Cup. Produced by Diofanor Ruiz of Fincal La Divisa, entirely of the Java variety of Arabica, and processed by the natural method (dried in the whole fruit), preceded by a 45-hour aerobic fermentation. Mudhouse is a specialty coffee roaster with five locations in Virginia. Visit www.mudhouse.com for more information.
Bottom Line
An exceptional natural-processed Colombia Java with an unusually vivid interplay of tropical and berry fruit, complex citrus and heady florals, grounded by dark chocolate and carried by impressive sweetness and aromatic intensity.
