Blind Assessment
Intensely perfumed, tropical and candy-sweet. Lychee, strawberry, rose, mandarin and vanilla cream in aroma and cup. Bright, juicy acidity; plush, syrupy-smooth mouthfeel. The finish is highly aromatic, with lychee, rose and vanilla cream notes into the long.
Notes
This coffee earned Finalist recognition in the Experimental category, International division, of the inaugural Kenneth Davids Cup. Produced by Cesar Llantén of Finca La Florida, entirely of the Pink Bourbon variety of Arabica, and processed by the anaerobic washed method, in which the fermentation step occurs in a hermetically sealed vessel (and is cofermented with lychee) before the beans are washed and dried. Bargain Cafe is a specialty coffee roaster in Taitung, Taiwan. Visit www.bargain-cafe.com for more information.
Bottom Line
A flamboyant Pink Bourbon co-ferment in which lychee amplifies the coffee’s tropical fruit and floral character without overwhelming its underlying sweetness and structure.
