Blind Assessment
Deep-toned, fruit-saturated and richly sweet. Black cherry, red plum, dark chocolate, magnolia and molasses in aroma and cup. Bright, winey acidity; plush, syrupy-smooth mouthfeel. The finish is long and resonant, with notes of black cherry, dark chocolate and magnolia.
Notes
This coffee earned Finalist recognition in the Experimental category, U.S. division, of the inaugural Kenneth Davids Cup. Produced by the Restrepo Family and processed by the anaerobic natural method, in which the whole fruit is fermented in tanks with limited oxygen before drying, also in the whole fruit. Located in southwestern Colorado, Durango Coffee lays claim to a rich coffee history that dates to 1986. Its motto is “Tough Town, Great Coffee.” Visit durangocoffee.com or call 800-748-2275 for more information.
Bottom Line
A richly expressive anaerobic natural Colombia that layers ripe fruit, chocolate and florals with deep sweetness in a full-bodied, beautifully balanced cup.
