Roast: Medium Review Date: October 2013
Origin: Yirgacheffe growing region, southern Ethiopia. Price: $16.00/12 ounces

Blind Assessment: Crisply and sweetly bright, complex. Delicate but intense floral notes, dark chocolate, lemon-toned berry, fragrant fresh tobacco. Softly tart acidity; lightly syrupy but very smooth mouthfeel. Flavor consolidates but lingers in a gently drying finish.

Notes: Certified organically grown. Yirgacheffe is a coffee region in southern Ethiopia that produces distinctively floral- and fruit-toned coffees from traditional varieties of Arabica long grown in the region. Yirgacheffe coffees like this one processed by the wet or washed method (fruit skin and pulp is removed before drying) typically express great aromatic complexity and intensity with a particular emphasis on citrus and floral notes. Rick and Randy Evans founded Evans Brothers Coffee in 2009 focused on sourcing and roasting the finest small lots of seasonally available coffees in a context of sustainability and responsibility. Who Should Drink It: The great exhilaratingly floral and citrusy Yirgacheffe profile in a particularly balanced and complete rendition.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
