Roast: Medium-Light Review Date: December 2012
Origin: Java; Kenya. Price: $16.50/16 ounces

Blind Assessment: Solid, comfortable cup. Black-currant crispness and gently pungent cedar rounded by honey and a hint of chocolate in aroma and flavor. Brisk, floral-toned acidity; silky mouthfeel. Straightforward, quietly rich finish.

Notes: This Holiday blend is fifty percent Kenya Rumikia AB, and fifty percent Java Sunda Hejo Lara. Located in Everett, Washington, north of Seattle, Velton's Coffee is a quality-focused small-batch wholesale roaster. Visit www.veltonscoffee.com or call 206-250-6130 for more information.

Who Should Drink It: Classically please-em-all holiday blend, though aficionados might find this updated version of the ancient Mocha-Java blend interesting for its blend composition. The Java, as it does in the original blend archetype, contributes a rounding base; in this case supporting a gently bright, crisply berry-toned Kenya.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
