Roast: Medium-Light Review Date: May 2012
Origin: Burundi Price: $16.75/12 ounces

Blind Assessment: Dry and brisk yet juicy. Layered dark berry and tamarind notes in aroma and cup, with hints of orange and cocoa. Crisp acidity; lightly syrupy mouthfeel. The dry berry note carries deep into the finish.

Notes: Burundi is a small, landlocked country in Central Africa. Most coffee is grown in the mountains of the north, bordering Rwanda. Benefiting from ideal growing conditions and large plantings of Bourbon and related heirloom varieties of Arabica, Burundi coffee has an excellent reputation and a growing following among North American specialty roasters. This coffee was produced exclusively from trees of the Bourbon variety. Terroir is a microroaster focusing on elite single-origin coffees. It was a pioneer in the revival of medium roast styles designed to foreground the character of the green coffee. Terroir is the creation of George Howell, one of the world's leading coffee visionaries. Visit www.terroircoffee.com or call 866-444-5282 for more information.

Who Should Drink It: Gently dry in the mouthfeel yet sweet and berryish in flavor, this coffee defines an admired style of Bourbon cup from Central Africa.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
