Roast: Medium-Dark Review Date: July 2010
Origin: Brazil; Mexico Price: $12.95/16 oz.

Blind Assessment: Sweet-toned aroma and flavor: caramel, dark chocolate, aromatic wood and a hint of fruit. Soft but distinct acidity and a round, silky mouthfeel. A richly sweet short finish gives way to a slightly papery astringency in the long.

Notes: The coffees in this blend were processed by the natural or dry method, meaning the beans were dried in the fruit rather than after removal of the fruit, as is the case with the classic wet or washed method. They were decaffeinated by the conventional or direct solvent method. Established in 2003 by father and son team Tony and Jeff Dreyfuss, Metropolis Coffee is a small batch roasting company based in the heart of Chicago. Who Should Drink It: Sweet, simple and pleasing.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
