Reviews for Tony's Coffees & Teas
Intense yet delicate; crisp, graceful. A tightly layered, utterly pleasing fusion of lavender-like flowers, roasted cacao nib and a hint of blood orange carries with clarity and consistency from aroma through finish. Lyrical, animated acidity; light but silky, lively mouthfeel. The finish never seems to stop; the floral-cacao-citrus notes ring on and on.

Deep, complex, big-bodied. Night-blooming flowers, hazelnut, dark chocolate, fresh-cut oak in aroma and cup. Round though rather heavy acidity; full, syrupy mouthfeel. Chocolate emerges clearly in a deeply sweet, nuanced finish.
Sweetly pungent, deep. Honey, night-blooming flowers, sweet chocolate, almond-like nut in aroma and cup, where a slight savory, peppery edge complicates the sweetness and carries into a drying but flavor-saturated finish.
Crisply sweet, deep. Dark chocolate, hazelnut, cherry, anise, night-blooming flowers in aroma and small cup. Full, velvety mouthfeel; flavor simplifies but carries into a balanced finish. Delicately complex and sweet in three parts milk: chocolate, hints of cherry, nut and flowers.
Suavely bright, fragrant, deep. Flowers, pear- and peach-like fruit, honey, pistachio-like nut in aroma and cup. Rich acidity; full, syrupy mouthfeel. Flavor consolidates in a resonant finish.
Poised and balanced; sweet-toned. Nut-toned chocolate, caramel and vanilla notes dominate, but a sweet, rather opulent table grape sensation deepens and complicates the profile. Gentle, delicate acidity; round, rather creamy-textured mouthfeel. The essential sweetness of this coffee carries far into the long finish.
Intense but rather simple aroma: faint suggestions of dusk flowers, fir, blackberry. Sweetly tart acidity; silky mouthfeel. In the cup aromatics lift and open: lemon, dusk flowers, hints of white wine and fresh pipe tobacco. Sweet, slightly astringent finish with good flavor persistence, particularly flowers.
Evaluated as espresso. Co-taster Andy Newbom (92) simply called the deeply floral aroma of the straight shot "glorious". Both Andy and Ken (92) also admired its "smooth and sweetly syrupy" (Andy) mouthfeel. And Andy, always ready with an adjective, piles on at least ten, all good ones, on the flavor. Ken stuck with an approving "minty, cherryish fruit." Ken (9) was more enthusiastic than Andy (8) regarding this complex blend's performance in four parts milk; for him it maintained a "delicate, tartly fruity-toned chocolate," whereas Andy felt the presence faded a bit in milk: "hints of sweet citrus cream and … cocoa prevailed, but barely."
Sweet-toned, balanced, quietly complete cup. Gently pungent acidity, silky mouthfeel. Tight-knit complexity: suggestions of nut, flowers, stone fruit, chocolate, lemon. Tightens a bit in a still sweet finish.
An aromatically rich coffee, with round jasmine notes and hints of mixed berry fruitiness. Balanced acidity, soft mouthfeel and a delicate lemony flavor, with hints of flowers and sweet toned fruit that deepen and become more opulent as the cup cools. The bitter-sweet, flavor-saturated finish fades but sweetens further in the long.
