Complex, deep, pungent. Black currant and blackberry; opulent flowers; dark chocolate; hints of fresh herb – black sage, cilantro – in aroma and cup. Powerful, richly tart acidity; plush mouthfeel. Sweet, flavor-saturated finish.

Notes:

Despite grower discontent and sporadic social disorder, Kenya continues to produce some of the world’s most elegant and distinctive coffees. This sample consists entirely of peaberries, a kind of bean that results when the coffee fruit develops only a single, oval bean rather than the usual pair of flat-sided beans. Peaberries produce a somewhat different (often better) cup than normal beans from the same crop, from which they may or may not be separated during grading. Who Should Drink It: Those who enjoy big, intense coffees expressing great range in structure and aromatics, from sweet flowers through complex fruit to savory hints of herb.
