Roast: Dark Review Date: February 1997
Origin: Various Price: NA

Blind Assessment: The body is full, the taste richly pungent. The carbon tones permeate, having definitively chased the acidity south, but they're rich, complex carbon tones, rather than the thin kind that whine at you from the cup.

Notes: The body is full, the taste richly pungent as the rich, complex carbon tones permeate.

Who Should Drink It: Peet's has always stood proudly at the darkest end of the roast spectrum: In Berkeley, dark is best. Brew this coffee very strong in a French press and take it with a splash of whole milk. Peet's slow-roast, smoke-heavy style manages to maintain amazing complexity under the carbon.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
