Var. Cauvery - Green by India Mysore Plantation A. Review |
  • India Mysore Plantation A.

    Imported by Josuma Coffee
  • Var. Cauvery - Green

Roast: NA Review Date: January 2001
Origin: Merthi Mountain, Chikmagalur district, Karnataka State, southern India. Price: NA

Blind Assessment: This coffee attracted a split vote; some found it impressive: low key but smooth, cleanly floral and citrusy, discreetly acidy, with a fresh, fruit-toned finish. Others found it complex and interesting, but marred by sour, medicinal tones. Impossible to tell late in the game whether the coffee was inconsistent or we were.

Notes: A wet-processed or "washed" coffee grown under shade at elevations of around 3,800 feet. Produced from trees of the Cauvery hybrid, a variety suspect in some coffee circles owing to a trace of robusta in its heritage. Plantation A is the highest normal grade of wet-processed India coffee based on bean size and absence of visual defects.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
