  • Honduras Montana Verde Pacas

Roast: Medium Review Date: August 2013
Origin: Santa Barbara Department, Honduras. Price: $13.00/16 ounces

Blind Assessment: Pungent, deep, slightly musky. Distinct dark chocolate, plum pudding, a musky note in aroma and cup. Roundly tart acidity; lightly syrupy mouthfeel. Flavor consolidates but persists in a rich finish.

Notes: This coffee was produced entirely from trees of the Pacas variety of Arabica, a compact-growing mutant of Bourbon first discovered and selected in El Salvador. Based in Morrisville, North Carolina, Muddy Dog Roasting is a small batch roaster focused on environmentally and socially responsible coffees and eco-friendly roasting. Who Should Drink It: Those who enjoy a deep, pungent variation on the classic Central America cup. The Bourbon heritage of the Pacas variety may account for some of the pungent depth of this rather distinctive profile.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
