Roast: Medium Review Date: August 2013
Origin: Kona growing region, Big Island of Hawaii. Price: $35.00/8 ounces

Blind Assessment: Delicate but intense. Roundly and sweetly pungent in aroma and cup: dark chocolate, hazelnut, fresh-cut fir, apricot-like fruit. Gentle but lyrically lively acidity; silky mouthfeel. Flavor consolidates in a lightly drying finish.

Notes: Certified organically grown. Pele Plantations mills and markets coffees from several of south Kona’s finest small farms. This outstanding Kona is from the John and Elisa Tolfree farm. Café Virtuoso is a small-batch coffee roaster that strives to procure, roast and deliver the best quality coffee in San Diego. Visit www.cafevirtuoso.com or call 619-550-1830 for more information.

Who Should Drink It: The seductive, silky softness of the best Konas boosted by an extraordinary light, shimmering acidity.
