Roast: Medium Review Date: July 2013
Origin: Not disclosed. Price: $14.00/12 ounces

Blind Assessment: Deep, savory/sweet. Dark chocolate, fresh-cut cedar, plum, hints of rose and perhaps thyme in aroma and small cup. Full, lightly syrupy mouthfeel; clean, rich and, chocolate-toned in the finish. In three parts milk a complexly expressed, plummy dark chocolate dominates.

Notes: Coffees in this blend are certified organically grown and Fair Trade certified, meaning they were purchased from small-holding farmers at a "fair" or economically sustainable price. Café Virtuoso subtitles this blend a “traditional European style” espresso. Virtuoso is a small-batch coffee roaster that strives to procure, roast and deliver the best quality coffee in San Diego. Who Should Drink It: This full, deep, pungently chocolaty espresso is a pleasing and well-designed alternative to the brighter, lighter-bodied espressos currently in vogue.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
