Roast: Medium Review Date: July 2013
Origin: Central Kenya. Price: NT $1600/16 ounces

Blind Assessment: Sweetly bright, soaring. Juicy black currant, Concord grape, ripe grapefruit, crisp lavender in aroma and cup. Exhilarating, flawless acidity; silky, buoyant mouthfeel. Flavor consolidates but persists in a sweet, slightly drying finish.

Notes: Despite grower discontent and urban encroachment on prime coffee lands, Kenya continues to produce some of the world's most elegant and distinctive coffees. AA is the highest trade of Kenya coffee based on bean size and freedom from physical imperfections. In addition to his retail roasting operation Aroma Roast Coffees, Simon Hsieh also operates Soaring Phoenix Trading, a business focused on purposed-built commercial espresso blends and high quality single-origin coffees. Who Should Drink It: Simply a superb Kenya, with a sweetly soaring acidity and a dry, berryish elegance in aroma and flavor.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
