Roast: Medium Review Date: May 2013
Origin: Taiwan Price: NT $750/8 ounces

Blind Assessment: Reviewed as espresso. Quiet, round, chocolaty. Butter, dark chocolate, plum/apricot and a hint of raisin in aroma and small cup. Smooth, lightly syrupy mouthfeel. A hint of chocolate carries into a delicate, drying finish. In three parts milk the dark chocolate continues to dominate, with a backgrounded apricot-like fruit.

Notes: Jacob's Estate is situated at an elevation of approximately 850 meters, midland Taiwan, and is surrounded by wild forests and waterways. The farm follows good farming practices and the coffee is hand-picked and processed by the traditional wet or washed method. Musicaffe Workshop, a custom-batch roaster located in Taiwan, is the exclusive retailer of Jacob's Estate. Through small-batch, precise roasting, Musicaffe aims to offer the perfect taste of coffee. Who Should Drink It: North Americans interested in an unusual origin, and Taiwanese interested in a home-grown espresso with a pleasingly quiet, chocolaty presence.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
