Roast: Medium Review Date: May 2013
Origin: Southern Ethiopia. Price: NT $1300/16 ounces

Blind Assessment: Evaluated as espresso. Deep, resonantly complex. Orange, jasmine, dark chocolate, hints of anise and fresh-cut cedar. Velvety, rich mouthfeel; flavor consolidates but persists in a long, gently drying finish. Full, substantial presence in three parts milk; orange, chocolate and jasmine notes in particular persist.

Notes: Ninety Plus is a distinguished boutique exporter and importer of innovative small-lot coffees from Ethiopia and Panama. Southern Ethiopia coffees like this one processed by the wet or washed method (fruit skin and pulp is removed before drying) typically express great aromatic complexity and intensity, often with a particular emphasis on citrus and floral notes. Café Est is a micro-roaster located in New Taipei City, Taiwan, owned by Ricky Liu who takes coffee quality and roasting very seriously, applying the same passion for them as he lavishes on his second favorite activity, surfing. Who Should Drink It: Classic in structure and exotic in aroma and flavor, both as straight shot and in cappuccino-volumes of milk.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
