  • Peru Cajamarca Cenfrocafe

Roast: Medium-Light Review Date: April 2013
Origin: Cajamarca growing region, Peru. Price: $14.95/12 ounces

Blind Assessment: Slightly savory, gently pungent. Fresh-cut fir, roasted cocoa nib, baked apple, perhaps a hint of sage in aroma and cup. Brisk but deep acidity; silky mouthfeel. The unusual baked apple note, a savory-toned fruit, persists in a balanced finish.

Notes: Produced by some of the 2,000 small-holding farmer members of the Cenfrocafe Cooperative. Beansmith Coffee is a small-batch roasting company serving the Omaha region that believes that coffee drinkers should know as much as they can about the coffee they drink, and that there is a story behind every cup, one worth exploring. Who Should Drink It: Those who enjoy a briskly savory-edged breakfast cup.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
