Roast: Medium Review Date: April 2013
Origin: Canton Illimani, Caranavi Province, west-central Bolivia. Price: $16.00/12 ounces

Blind Assessment: Deeply and crisply sweet; complex. Chocolate, hazelnut, orange zest, flowers in aroma and cup. Soft but lively acidity; lightly syrupy, buoyant mouthfeel. Sweet, gently flavor-saturated finish.

Notes: Produced by small-holding farmers and prepared by the classic wash-and-ferment process. Water Avenue Coffee is a tiny roastery nestled next to the railway in the old Industrial Southeast quarter in Portland, Oregon. Visit www.wateravenuecoffee.com or call 503-808-7083 for more information.

Who Should Drink It: A classic Bolivia cup: lovely structure with gentle but vibrant acidity; quietly complex aromatics.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
