Coffee Review - Rutana Burundi by Johnson Brothers Coffee
92
Roast: Medium-Light Review Date: February 2013
Origin: Burundi Price: $13.99/12 ounces

Blind Assessment: Crisply sweet, quietly complex. Chocolate, night-blooming flowers, vanilla, raspberry-like fruit in aroma and cup. Tart but juicy acidity; lightly syrupy mouthfeel. Flavor consolidates but carries well into a rich, long finish.

Notes: Burundi is a small, landlocked country in Central Africa. Most coffee is grown in the mountains of the north, bordering Rwanda. Benefiting from ideal growing conditions and large plantings of Bourbon and related heirloom varieties of Arabica, Burundi coffee has an excellent reputation and a growing following among North American specialty roasters. Johnson Brothers Coffee Roasters is a distinguished small-batch roasting company. Visit www.johnsonbrotherscoffee.com or call 608-256-5282 for more information.

Who Should Drink It: Those who enjoy Central African tart berry and floral chocolate character in a briskly bright but balanced cup.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
