  • Honduras Bertilio Reyes Portillo

Roast: Medium Review Date: January 2013
Origin: Santa Barbara, Honduras. Price: $16.20/12 ounces

Blind Assessment: Syrupy mouthfeel, quietly vibrant acidity. Fir, molasses, orange zest, lush night-blooming flowers in aroma and cup. Flavor quiets and consolidates in a long, resonant finish.

Notes: This lot is comprised entirely of the Pacas variety of Arabica, a dwarf selection of the heirloom Bourbon variety. A coffee from Bertilio Portillo’s farm won the Cup of Excellence juried competition for Honduras green coffees in 2009. Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
