Coffee Review - Brazil Pocos de Caldas Espresso by Paradise Roasters
Roast: Medium Review Date: February 2013
Origin: Pocos de Caldas, Brazil. Price: $12.95/12 ounces

Blind Assessment: Evaluated as espresso. In the small cup complex aroma and flavor: dark chocolate, honey, night-florals, grape-like fruit, pungent cedar. Impressively syrupy mouthfeel. Flavor consolidates in a sweet though drying finish. Balanced and rather brisk in two parts milk: chocolate, cedar, flowers.

Notes: Processed by the traditional Brazilian natural or dry method, meaning the coffee was dried with both skin and fruit still adhering to the beans. Produced entirely from trees of the heirloom Yellow Bourbon variety of Arabica. Paradise Roasters prides itself on roasting and shipping coffee only after orders are placed. Its metaphoric mission is to bring some paradisiacal warmth from the coffee-growing south to the cool environs of Minnesota and beyond. Visit or call 763-433-0626 for more information.

Who Should Drink It: Impressive complexity and depth of sensation in a single-origin espresso.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
