Blind Assessment: Deep, rich, chocolaty. The chocolate is nut-toned and fudge-like and complicated by raspberry-like fruit, night flowers and a hint of pungent cedar. Gentle, juicy acidity; lightly syrupy mouthfeel. Flavor fades slightly in the finish, but remains sweet and chocolate-toned with perhaps a deepening hint of savory. Notes: Farmer Carlos Imbachi’s Finca Buenavista won first place in the Specialty Coffee Association of America’s Coffee of the Year competition in both 2009 and 2010. CaféTaster is an aficionado nano-roaster of the style increasingly characteristic of East Asia countries like Taiwan and Korea, roasting very high-end coffees in very small volumes for a tiny clientele of passionate coffee enthusiasts, in the process selling coffee education as much as coffee itself. Email roaster Jerry Huang at cafetaster.order@gmail.com for more information. Who Should Drink It: Those who enjoy the chocolate sensation at play in a complex matrix of fruit and floral nuance. |
