  • House Blend

Roast: Medium Review Date: February 2012
Origin: Latin America; East Africa. Price: $14.25/12 ounces

Blind Assessment: Impressive aroma: caramelly chocolate, almond, lemon, grape, a hint of flowers. Tartly rich acidity; fullish though rather rough mouthfeel. Aromatics persist but simplify a bit in the cup and finish.

Notes: Stumptown Coffee is a small-batch premium roasting company that wholesales its coffees as well as serves them custom brewed by the cup in its Portland cafes. Under the enthusiastic leadership of Duane Sorenson, Stumptown has become a leading buyer and roaster of elite, small-lot coffees. Who Should Drink It: A forceful, deep-structured cup, especially when hot.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
