Roast: Dark Review Date: November 2011
Origin: East Africa. Price: $7.99/12 ounces

Blind Assessment: Impressive aroma: dark chocolate, a hint of pungent, grapefruity citrus. Both fade in the cup and disappear entirely in a heavily astringent, roast-flattened finish. Lean, watery mouthfeel.

Notes: Purchased pre-ground in a sealed 12-ounce foil-laminated bag with one-way valve at a Safeway supermarket in northern California; 67 cents per dry ounce. Composed of 100% Arabica coffees. Visit www.starbucks.com or call 800-782-7282 for more information.

Who Should Drink It: Once past the aroma not much here. A whole-bean version of this blend bought from a Starbucks store doubtless would maintain more of the initially pleasing aromatics.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
