Espresso Review - Guatemala Alotenango Candelaria Espresso by Johnson Brothers
90
Roast: Medium Review Date: November 2011
Origin: Alotenango, Guatemala. Price: $12.95/12 ounces

Blind Assessment: Evaluated as espresso. Sweet-toned, pleasing but simple aromatics: roasted almond, lemon, grape. Buttery mouthfeel. Dry plum, lemon/lime-like citrus and anise carry from the small cup into finish. Continued hints of lemon and anise in a well-balanced, two-part milk drink.

Notes: Finca Candelaria is owned and managed by Luis Pedro Zelaya Sr. who, over the past several years has taken a once run-down farm and revitalized it. Johnson Brothers Coffee Roasters is a distinguished small-batch roasting company. Visit www.johnsonbrotherscoffee.com or call 608-256-5282 for more information.

Who Should Drink It: Aficionados of single-origin espressos as straight shots and in short milk. Crisp and quietly complex.
