  • Resiprocate FTO Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Medium Roast

Roast: Medium-Dark Review Date: October 2011
Origin: Yirgacheffe growing region, southern Ethiopia. Price: CAD $12.99/400 grams

Blind Assessment: Muted hints of sweet fruit and flowers dominate in the aroma. More intensity in the cup: Richly rounded acidity, fullish if lean-textured mouthfeel; flowers, nut, honey, complex chocolate. Continuing hints of flowers and dark chocolate carry into a short but pleasing finish.

Notes: This coffee is certified organically grown and Fair Trade, meaning it was purchased from small-holding farmers at a "fair" or economically sustainable price. Yirgacheffe is a coffee region in southern Ethiopia that produces distinctively floral- and fruit-toned coffees from traditional varieties of Arabica long grown in the region. Yirgacheffe coffees like this one processed by the wet or washed method (fruit skin and pulp is removed before drying) typically express great aromatic complexity and intensity with a particular emphasis on citrus and floral notes. Canterbury Coffee is a large roasting company based in the Vancouver area, offering a wide range of coffee brands including Spirit Bear, ReSIProcate and Premio d’Italia. Who Should Drink It: A darkish, roast-influenced rendition of the classic Ethiopia Yirgacheffe fruit and flowers profile.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
